[Foundation] Some Thoughts and Threads

Hi.  I've watched the latest set of threads, purposely not jumping into 
any of them, trying to get a larger perspective.  After struggling a bit 
with saying anything, I decided I would.  So take this as you will.  Not 
sure this will matter much, but here goes.

It doesn't seem that any of the groups within the JSF, from the marketing 
team to the Jabber Council, are trying to be arbitrary or capricious in 
their actions.  In fact, I think they are trying to be as inclusive and as 
deliberate as possible.  Calls for participation have been frequent 
although there is always room for improvement in articulating when help is 
need and why.  This goes for just about any organization.

That being said, though, the JSF has to move forward.  We do need a new 
logo.  We do need it for OSCON.  We need to position and promote Jabber, 
like yesterday.  In fact, there are a number of things that need to be 
done, like yesterday, from compliance, to documentation, to starter 
packages.  People are stepping up to the plate, taking ownership, making 
decisions, and getting things done.  And getting something done less than 
perfectly is better than getting nothing done perfectly well.  

My logo didn't make it in the list either and I was participating in the 
marketing team discussions.  I don't like the lightbulb either.  I'd like 
something simple that emphasizes the "J" in Jabber and "breaks" with the 
bulb once and for all.  The point is, I said my piece and the team made a 
decision.  I am much less concerned with the outcome than the process.  
People are empowered and they're getting things done.  If you want to make 
things happen then step up, get involved, and get things done yourself.  

And speaking of getting things done, I applaud the initiative to setup a 
european/asian meeting time.  In fact, I'd go so far as suggesting someone 
become the coordinator for affairs in Europe and/or Asia.  This person 
would be responsible for communicating with the Executive Director (St. 
Peter) to insure views of those who can't make the current meeting times 
are accurately represented and vice versa.  In fact, I'd look at changing 
the by-laws to establish an official position in this regard.  

Whatever.  The message is the same, get up, stand up, get something done.
