Yes, I do have serious qualms making this a JSF thing. 

It's way, way too early for this sort of harshness. They are
encouraging people to use Jabber clients to connect to the server, and
they are making a point of talking about Jabber/XMPP. You can't _buy_
that sort of publicity.

I suspect that they haven't deployed s2s simply because their server
is still under construction. From my protocol probes at their server,
it would seem to be a custom built server and my guess is that it's
not quite done.

In general (and I speak from experience) you shouldn't lambast people
until you have a pretty good big-picture of what they are trying to
accomplish. Let's welcome Google into the community and set them
straight AFTER they have had a chance to get fully engaged.
