Why? Do all 190,000 jabber.org end users need to log into the software 
map with their existing credentials? I don't see the need. The only 
people who need to log into the software map are, presumably, the much 
smaller set of people who develop software listed there -- and many of 
them don't even have xmpp accounts on the jabber.org server (think 
jabber.ru etc.).

They do not run on the same server. The production jabber server runs on 
athena.jabber.org, to which only 4 people have access (me, pgm, jer, and 
Jonathan Siegle). The website runs on apollo.jabber.org, to which access 
is somewhat less restricted.
