I am 36 years old. I live in UK near Cambridge and work with VNUnet in London.
Unfortunately "my" company doesn't use Jabber/XMPP..... yet ;-).
I have been using open source software for over 12 years.
I am Linux user since kernel version about 0.9.
And I have been participating to a few open source projects for over 6 years:
About 5 years ago I started to use Jabber as my IM and about 2 years ago
I decided to write jabber server in Java. Which is available as open source
project at address: http://www.tigase.org/ and sources:
https://svn.tigase.org/ which is on my private home "server".
I am now finishing s2s implementation and when this is ready I will run
my implementation on the server for public use for testing.
Part of the project is testsuite (sources are also available at this address).
This is dedicated system for testing Jabber/XMPP server with built-in test
scripting language which allows you to define different test scenarios.
All this activity is pure voluntary work and with full time job and family
progres is a bit slow. Hopefully when server becomes more functional I can
find more ppl keen to get involved.
As I can see many possibilities and a large area of use Jabber technology
I want to be more involved not only in creating the code but also in moving
the technology towards homes and industry.
Jabber as technology is very well designed, it's flexible it's extensible so
it's ideal solution not just as communication system but for all cases where
there is a need for sending data in "real time".
So I wanted to join Jabber community to help defining new standards (JEPs,
XEPs) new directions and so on...
