The problem is that it is not immediately obvious to most people that
when I give them my JabberID (JID) that they can use their google
talk account to chat with me. That's a big problem---it's forced me
to add a lot of verbiage to my contact page just to clarify that
point: http://www.deepdarc.com/contact
The fact that services like GoogleTalk are shying away from using the
term 'JID' (or some other suitable vendor-neutral phrase) will only
lead to more consumer confusion in the future, and that will hurt
Jabber/XMPP adoption IMHO.
