Oh, and another problem with the old system: because anyone could apply 
(no identity via login as on the wiki), we used to receive a *lot* of 
bogus applications (which we had to delete from the database) and 
seriously incomplete applications (thus we had to try to contact the 
person who submitted it and ask them to complete it). Lots of time 
wasted. The wiki solution has been much easier to work with.
