The impression given by recent posts still highlight a strong voice from the
XMPP developers' community. Their support is fair and reassuring, but may
fall short in widening the general public awareness of XMPP/Jabber (these
guys are already convinced ;).

Beside the protocol, which is the XSF business, I find Ian's idea of "The
network of IM servers" a beginning. Won't we also benefit from a better
exposure of other usages of XMPP beyond IM?

I believe XMPP has to grow out of the IM world and realize its potential
alongside other web technologies. So far there are too few people aware of
the XMPP alternative to HTTP only applications. I'd be interested by a place
where we could discuss about applications of XMPP. On a conceptual level. It
could take XMPP to the next level.

Thoughts?
