Do that one and also I highly recommend grabbing Bad Behavior. It's a
great complement to Akismet or any other spam blocking tool for any
system (not just Wordpress). It's sort of like a bouncer at the front
door of a club that blocks entry to 80% of the losers who try to
enter. Then Akismet will do its thing on the other 20%. I do these
two and basically get zero comment spam. The couple in a month that I
get are actually "handmade" and have no distinguishing characteristics
which the automated systems are able to discern.

Been doing this for a couple of years now to great effect.

"Statistics

Bad Behavior has blocked 742 access attempts in the last 7 days."
