ok for 2,3 (I volunteer for writing bots doing the job), for 4: ning
site to use for allowing members publishing news, profiles,
activities?

I'm not sure about 1) instead, since while it is nice to have an
@xmpp.org JID, since it really gives the membership idea but I don't
know if this is in the philosophy of XMPP:
- giving addresses for a particular purpose imho goes against the idea
of federation
- I know that with mail this usually works, but here we don't have
(yet) anything similar to mail forwarding
