Ok. I wrote this, hope this is ok:

Thus the XSF <a
and <a
members for 2010/2011 <a
be elected this 25th of October 2010. And so they were.

As a reminder, the Board is the entity representing externally the
XMPP Standards Foundation, in particular in business
relations. As for the Council, its members approve the XMPP
Extension Protocols, after having carefully discussed them on our
many discussion
media and listened to the opinions of our technical readers, whereas
they may be XSF members or not, renowned experts or students, or even
you, behind your screen.

So who are our brand new representatives? Hey, not that new actually,
as the XSF Board keeps all the same four individuals as the previous
year — Jack Moffit, Florian Jensen, Will Sheward and Nicolas Verité —
and welcomes additionally Mike Taylor for his first time ever on this

On technical side, four out of five XSF Council members are as well
simply keeping their role: Kevin Smith, Matthew Wild, Ralph Meijer and
Nathanael Fritz. We still welcome Matthew Miller, as for him definitely
not a first-timer on this position as he served three consecutive years,
long ago, in a time where dinosaurs were ruling the world (2003 to

Whereas we don't have anyone to regret from the 2009-2010 Board
(because they all remained, not because they were such craps. Follow me,
would you?); from the previous Council on the other hand, we would like
to thank for their good work those who left their place (still remaining
active members):

Dave Cridland

who actually resigned the first of march
2010 after 2.5 years serving the XSF in the Council. Lack of time was
the reason. One would say he wanted to spend more time with his family,
as a responsible husband, while he actually admitted he had work to do
related to some dead protocols… email and http. Nobody is perfect.

Remko Tronçon

who did not re-apply after one year serving
the Council and some nice achievements, like co-writing with Peter
Saint-André and Kevin Smith the soon best-seller XMPP: The Definitive
Thanks to both of you!

And now, enough for the regrets and the cry. Let's focus on future and
wish the new Board and Council <del>chance</del> success into
enlightening the XSF and XMPP in the hard Internet Standards jungle.
Because it is written on the web page: we provide real-time
collaboration. Yet our collaboration begins here, far before deciding
the shape that should take tiny bits for the networks to carry: simply
by participating in the XSF — in any role — for the sake of better
Standards, but even more in the end, for you.

So was it too bad? :-/ I am listening to any comments, especially as I
am not a native English speaker.

The page listing the board and council members as well should be
updated as well, by the way.

> anyone think this is a horrible idea?

Anyway too late, I did my draft now.
And now I need to get some sleep. It is already the morning, the sun is
high in the sky, and I didn't sleep tonight.
