Joining the XSF (or remaining a member, in your case) isn't needed at all
to work on the technical side of XMPP, at least until you want to stand for
Council.

Joining the XSF is about helping to manage the development of the protocol,
and its promotion.

You're more than welcome to reapply, and more than welcome to chip in with
your ideas of what the XSF should be doing - but in particular, I'd be
interested to know what's stopped you from participating in this way before
- and whether it's something we can fix.
