if you have used a specific client for more than a year or so, your going to have all your logs in that clients log format. what if that client stops 
development for whatever reason? or what if the author decides to take the client in a direction you just don't want, like making it more bloated or 
simplistic, or even changes the gui style to something you can't stand?
