While not an option for Jingle calls/file transfers (if done out-of-band),
XEP-136 mentions "stream" value for "save" attribute, which should
theoretically provide the way to replay the whole sequence of events
(including typing notifications, if that is of such paramount importance
;-) 

Currently XEP-136 doesn't really specify how these archived streams should
be managed/retrieved, though.
