That's already the way things work. Both Remko and Rachel (coders on two
widely used clients) think it's fine as-is. So does Alexey Shchepin
(ejabberd developer who pinged me about this off-list, initiating this
thread). Personally I too see no particular reason to change things. If
it ain't broke, don't fix it.
